After working as a lawyer, specialized in author’s rights, Bruno Blanckaert took over the helm of the mythical Le Grand Rex cinema in the 80’s.
He decided to open up the programming of the Rex Club to electronic music and to Laurent Garnier, in the 90s, under the impulsion of Christian Paulet, manager of the Rex Club, and his successor Fabrice Gadeau.
In addition to this activity, Bruno Blanckaert, initially held the position of General Secretary for the CSCAD (Chambre Syndicale des Discothèques), then became its president at the beginning of the 90s. With the CSCAD, Bruno Blanckaert and Rebecca Le Chuiton, its general delegate, succeeded in unifying the entertainment sector and secured the role and the importance of discos, cabarets and performance spaces, enabling them to be perceived as venues with a cultural vocation, thus establishing the touristic influence of Paris and France (The French Touch).
Today, Bruno Blanckaert is on the board of the Paris Tourist Office, Vice-President of Pierrots de la Nuit and has been Treasurer of the Cinémathèque Française, alongside Costa Gavras, since several years.
